Top 10 Activities For Teenagers In Phuket

Travelling with teenagers can be an incredible adventure filled with thrilling experiences that cater to their energy and interests.

As our kids get older they seem to be perpetually glued to their screens and have little interest in the beach which can present a unique challenge, but fear not, there are plenty of adrenaline pumping activities to make your family trip to Phuket enjoyable and memorable.

THAILAND TRAVEL GUIDE

Phuket offers multiple child and teenager friendly activities and places to visit, making it a perfect destination for families.

The island is renowned for its perfect beaches, where children can play on the sand and in the sea for hours. There are also opportunities to experience thrilling water sports like snorkelling, diving, banana boats, parasailing and kayaking.  Most beaches have a small play area for children too.

But what do you do when they are tired of fun on the beach?  It can be difficult to find suitable things to do with teenagers in tow.  Luckily Phuket has plenty of fun activities to please everyone from Quad Bikes to Elephants, Water Parks to Shopping Malls and Aquariums to Cinemas.

Our teenagers enjoyed the Central Festival and Jungcelon Shopping Malls where they enjoyed not only shopping  but also fast food outlets and movies in the SFX Cinemas.  Jungcelon also has a small games arcade and trampoline park.  Underneath the Central Floresta Shopping Mall we found Aquaria, the largest aquarium in Thailand, which had over 25,000 amazing aquatic creatures which we all enjoyed.

With so many different activities and places to visit to choose from, it can feel overwhelming. To assist, here is a list of our family's Top 10 Activities For Teenagers In Phuket.

For more inspiration you can also head over to our dedicated page Best Places To Visit In Phuket for more activities and places to visit in Phuket.

Surfing in Phuket has been gaining popularity over the years, especially on the island's west coast. While Phuket may not be a top international surf destination, it does offer a unique and tropical surfing experience for those looking to ride the waves in a stunning island setting.

Whether you're a seasoned surfer or a beginner eager to learn, Phuket provides opportunities to enjoy the sport amidst its beautiful coastal scenery. The best time for surfing in Phuket is during the southwest monsoon season, which typically runs from May to October. During this time, the waves are more consistent and can provide great conditions for both beginners and experienced surfers.

Our sons really enjoyed an hour surf lesson on Kata Beach.  They were able to ride waves within no time at all and over the following days just rented boards out and entertained themselves.

You can book a surfing lesson with a qualified instructor at Kata Beach here

Alternatively you can try the Flowrider at Kata Phuket - Where you can ride the waves every day, regardless of the weather. This surfing centre is suitable for all ages, from children to adults.

Phuket Essential Infomation

Best time to visit Phuket - The best time to visit Phuket is during the months of November to February, which falls within the dry season. During this time, the weather is generally pleasant with mild temperatures and low humidity. It is an ideal time for beach activities and exploring the beautiful landscapes of the island. The sea is also calmer, making it perfect for snorkeling, diving, and other water sports. Additionally, this period coincides with several festive celebrations, such as Christmas and New Year, which add to the vibrant atmosphere of the island. However, it is important to note that this is also the peak tourist season, so expect larger crowds and higher prices for accommodations and activities. If you prefer a quieter and more budget-friendly experience, visiting during the shoulder seasons of March to May or September to October can be a good alternative. Description not clear.
